Frisian Dew outdoor balcony grow in Germany by DivineBuds420

Growing outdoors in northern Germany usually means dealing with humidity, wind and unpredictable weather; conditions that many growers across Northern Europe will recognise.

In this case, five Frisian Dew plants were grown on a balcony after a short indoor start. The grow stayed relatively problem-free, the plants stretched to around 2 metres, and the final result held up well despite some late-season moisture challenges.

It’s a good example of what can be achieved in a typical Northern European outdoor setup without needing perfect conditions or complex techniques.

I grew Frisian Dew outdoors on a balcony and overall, Im very happy with how the grow turned out. The strain was easy to grow, caused very few problems and delivered a good, solid result in the end.

A low-maintenance Frisian Dew balcony grow with solid results

DivineBuds420 from Norddeutschland (Germany) kindly shared their full Frisian Dew outdoor grow journal on GrowDiaries. They grew 5 Frisian Dew’s on a balcony and delivered an impressive result despite typical German humidity challenges on the way.

Frisian Dew outdoor balcony grow by DivineBuds420

Environment: Outdoor balcony grow in Norddeutschland, Germany. Started indoors in a small tent for the first weeks, then moved outside once the weather was warm enough. Northern European weather (cool nights, changeable rain and humidity) was the main variable.

Grow location: Balcony grow outdoors, upstairs.

Number of plants: 5 Frisian Dew plants grown from feminised seeds.

Pot size: Started in 1.5 L pots → upgraded to 3.5 L in week 8 → final 11 L pots from week 15 onwards.

Grow medium: Soil & perlite

Nutrients: BioBizz Light-Mix, Bactrex, Orgatrex and Bio PK 5-8. Classic organic approach that kept things simple and effective.

Grow techniques: Low-Stress Training (LST) from week 8. The grower considered mainlining or topping early on, but decided to keep things simple.

Additional notes: Very easy grow rating. Minor bud-rot in late flower phase due to humidity, but the plants stayed remarkably resilient – classic Frisian Dew behaviour.

Fast germination and a clean indoor start under 18/6 lighting

The perfect start! The feminised seeds germinated quickly using the paper-towel method and grew strongly indoors under 18/6 lighting. There were no damping-off or stretching issues. Just a clean, well-controlled start that set the tone for the rest of the grow. The seedlings were happy, healthy and already showing early signs of the robust genetics that make Frisian Dew one of the best outdoor feminised seeds for Northern Europe.

Steady vegetative growth with LST and strong vertical stretch to 2m

Strong, steady cannabis veg phase with consistent upward growth. The Frisian Dew plants loved the gradual pot upgrades and responded well to LST. Plant heights went from just 5–10 cm in the early weeks all the way to 80 cm by week 15 and eventually 185–200 cm. No major pests were seen, and the plants thrived on the organic nutrients that were well controlled by DivineBuds420.

Weekly highlights:

Weeks 1–3: Healthy seedlings, strong root development indoors.

Week 8: LST started, pot upgrade to 3.5 L – plants loved the extra room.

Week 15: Moved to final 11 L pots and hit 80 cm – explosive growth once outside.

Weeks 19–22: Stretched to 175–185 cm. Grower noted the plants handled wind and cooler nights without drama.

Dense, frosty buds with minor bud rot during humid late flowering

The cannabis flowering phase kicks in naturally as outdoor light hours drop. For most Northern European outdoor cannabis bloom starts during August. The buds eventually became dense, long and frosty, showing the classic Frisian Dew structure.

The only real challenge was minor bud rot in the humid late-flower period – easily managed with good airflow and selective trimming. Overall, the plants remained resilient and healthy – exactly why Frisian Dew seeds are so highly recommended for outdoor cannabis growing in Northern Europe.

Balcony grown plants are often exposed to the higher winds normally seen at tree-top level. You need specialist selectively bred outdoor weed seeds to survive the often-unsheltered conditions.

The buds developed nicely and the overall yield was absolutely satisfying for a balcony grow. Dense buds and a healthy look by the end of flowering.

Weekly highlights:

Week 22–23: Flowering stretch finished at ~195 cm.

Weeks 26–30: Buds swelling nicely, height stabilised at 200 cm.

Week 30–31: Smell became noticeable (in a good way), final PK boost helped fatten the buds.

Resinous harvest with only small losses despite damp autumn conditions

Harvest day was a happy one! Despite a few small bud rot losses from the damp German autumn, the remaining buds were solid and resinous. Exactly what you would expect from a cannabis cup winning outdoor champ and repeat best seller like Frisian Dew.

DivineBuds420 summed it up perfectly:

Frisian Dew was very easy to handle throughout the grow. The plant grew strong and stable, handled wind and changeable weather well and showed a robust structure overall. This is a big plus, especially for outdoor balcony conditions.

Frisian Dew once again showed why she is one of Europe’s most trusted outdoor cannabis strains and why she has been Dutch Passion’s best-selling outdoor cannabis seed variety for two decades.  One of the best outdoor strains for Northern Europe.

Final thoughts and bonus tips

Frisian Dew grown outdoors in Germany

Dutch Passion were impressed by DivineBuds420’s planning, grow control and results. Congratulations!

Bonus tips from the grow:

1) Start your outdoor cannabis seeds a little earlier indoors if you’re in Northern Europe – those extra indoor veg weeks really pay off with bigger plants and harvests.

2) LST or topping work well to control height and maintain a level canopy of blooms.

3) Keep an eye on late-flower humidity – defoliation and good spacing helps prevents bud rot.

4) Organic nutrients + perlite in soil gave great results. The grower kept the plants in good condition.

If you want reliable cannabis seeds that cruise through cool, damp Northern European summers, put Dutch Passion Frisian Dew feminised seeds on your shopping list.
