HiFi 4G grow review - Coco / Autopot with SCROG under LED light

HiFi 4G feminised seeds grow report

With parent genetics from Wifi OG and Glueberry OG, HiFi 4G is a star member of Dutch Passion’s exclusive ‘Extremely High THC seed collection’. Cannabis strains don’t get much stronger than this! One unusual feature of HiFi 4G is that she seems to amplify enjoyment of music in an unusual way and very pleasant way.

Growers that prefer to grow only premium strength genetics will love HiFi 4G seeds. In this grow review 4 plants were grown under LED and produced exceptionally strong, potent buds. One plant was slightly stunted and yielded less than the other 3, which yielded around 100g per plant. Caution. Hifi4G is way to strong for novice smokers and only suits experienced cannabis users.

Important remarks

HiFi 4G seeds germination

Germination was very fast, within 2-3 days the roots appeared and formed decent size root tips. The germinated seeds looked really healthy with a nice thick root covered in white root hairs.

HiFi 4G vegetative phase (18/6 light)

After transplanting, the plants seem to grow somewhat faster than normal. They had lots of leaves with a tight internodal distance. They showed no stress after switching to LED grow lights. During the VEG period, the plants showed a hybrid leaf structure, slightly leaning to the Indica side. This Indica dominancy was shown in the big and sturdy stems, also the leaf stem was thicker than usual. Being such a sturdy plant it was not so easy to scrog/bend her, the branches broke easily if stressed too much.

HiFi 4G bloom/flowering period (12/12 light)

In early bloom the plants showed quite some stretch, during these first 2 weeks of flowering the plants showed amazing growth strength. They stretched a little more than we might have expected from an 8 week indica dominant strain.

After 3,5 weeks the stretch came to a standstill and bud formation started to show. Because of the thick stems we reckoned that there was an effective and efficient nutrient transportation to the growing tips. This made them grow stronger and faster than normal.

Extreme potency is definitely there, the buds sparkle with THC crystals.

THC production was a little slow at the start, but from weeks 5-7 the resin/bloom production was really taking off. At 7.5-8 weeks, some phenotypes were ready to be cut. The others could definitely use a week more and were cut at 9 – 9,5 weeks. Extreme potency is definitely there, the buds sparkle with THC crystals.

HiFi 4G harvest report

Total yield was 310g dry for this HiFi 4G indoor grow.
Total yield was 310g dry for this HiFi 4G indoor grow.

Final height: Difficult to evaluate accurately. Due to the use of the SCROG method, they stretched a bit more than was expected.

Calyx-leaf ratio (Easy trim/yes or no): Yes, the strain was quite an easy trim, not too many leaves in the flower, so the calyx:leaf ratio was good. Some were really compact and even faster to trim.

Quality (Resin/Smell/Compactness): Quite a potent look, earthy smell, little bit spicy, some phenotypes had a fruity, earthy complexity – these were our favorites. Expect hard and compact nuggets at harvest day.

Yield: Total yield was 310g dry. The smallest/stunted plant only yielded 32g. In total the other 3 plants yielded 278 g between them, around 93g per plant.

Remarks after curing: Once dried the smell is not too pungent, a bit subtle. After some weeks curing the earthy and fruity became a bit better.

Observations and tips to grow HiFi 4G

HiFi 4G proved to be a sturdy and strong Indica leaning hybrid. Not the best for a SCROG, but probably very suitable for SOG type of growing style. Leaves are hybrid style, slightly Indica leaning with thick and broad fingers.

She doesn’t like to be bent or supercropped since the stems break very easily. Big and strong stems probably also make her a good candidate to grow the natural way, although some phenotypes tend to get large and heavy buds, so support during flowering is recommended.

The recommended flower period is about 8 – 9 weeks for most phenotypes. Aroma was very pleasing and inviting. There were a few with fruity hints, which were our favorites.

The potency is definitely there with HiFi 4G. Almost all the phenotypes pack a very serious punch, smoking a whole joint can be challenging, even for some of the hardcore smokers.
